What We Do
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive — and for some children, that means having access to specialized support from the very beginning. Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) at SSFUSD offers specialized instruction and support services for children ages 3-5 with identified developmental needs, helping each child build the skills they need to flourish in school and in life.
Working closely with families and community partners, our ECSE team develops an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each eligible child, with a focus on communication, social-emotional development, and foundational learning skills. Our goal is to ensure that every child is seen, supported, and given every opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.

My name is Margaret Lee, and I have the privilege of coordinating SSFUSD's Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program. Our team is made up of dedicated educators, specialists, and support staff who are deeply committed to partnering with families to understand each child's unique strengths and needs — and to providing the individualized support that helps every child grow.
Whether you are just beginning to wonder whether your child might benefit from an evaluation, or you are already familiar with the special education process, I encourage you to reach out. There is no question too small, and no concern too early to raise. We are here to help.
